I have known Jay for the past eleven years, while he was becoming educated and learning about design, plants, art, ponds, and design details he was always ready to share his knowledge.

We highly recommend INNovation STUDIO LANDSCAPE for home landscaping and design. Their service is outstanding. When we bought our home, the landscaping was a complete and total disaster: bushes were overgrown, and an assortment of old thorn bushes, dying trees, and weeds overwhelmed the flower beds, severely detracting from our home’s curb appeal.

We met with Jay Holinger, the owner of INNovation STUDIO LANDSCAPE, to discuss our needs. Knowing little about specific plants or landscape design, my wife and I could only provide broad guidelines, describing an interest in varied colors and fragrances from pollinator plants that would require little maintenance, yet provide some measure of privacy.

INNovation STUDIO LANDSCAPE incorporated these elements into a well-thought out design, selecting plants appropriate for our climate, sunny and shaded areas, drainage, and soil type. They met with us to review their plan, explaining their choices and spacing for plants, as well as providing pictures, and modifying the plan as appropriate to meet our tastes.

Once the plan was finalized, the INNovation STUDIO LANDSCAPE crew worked as quickly and diligently as their schedule and weather permitted - which was no small feat, considering the number of trees and bushes that needed to be removed, then replaced by plants, bushes, and trees that differed in size and availability.

The results are truly impressive.

It’s a joy to look out our windows - or even approach the house - and strangers stop to comment how beautiful the yard is. There is color everywhere, with new flowers blooming as the old ones pass on, and the variation of the plantings is inviting and pleasing to the eye. It turns out that our investment with INNovation STUDIO LANDSCAPE has been worth every penny.

A recent home addition resulted in our yard flooding with the slightest bit of rain, making about a third of the backyard unusable. In mid-spring 2020, we met with Jay Holinger to explore landscaping solutions. Jay asked insightful questions and took measurements around the entire property, including the slope of the land. When Jay rolled out his design just days later, including photos of the plants and materials, I almost cried. Jay had envisioned a backyard oasis with a rain garden, using mostly native plants to attract pollinators. The design included raised garden beds for vegetables, a rain barrel, several new evergreens and a beautiful Paperbark Maple as the show piece. To remedy the awkward appearance of the pre-existing brick patio with the new home addition, Jay cleverly used cedar timber walkways with limestone chips to pull it all together. His design was a masterpiece!

The installation was scheduled for May, but May turned out to be the wettest May on record to date in Illinois. As a result, Jay had a backlog of customers waiting for installations. Jay remained in close contact with me, keeping me informed of his schedule. Soon, Jay and his team arrived and got straight to work.

Throughout the installation, Jay consulted with me to ensure that I was still happy with his design, as the rain garden took shape, and as we finalized plantings. Every day, I watched Jay meticulously consider his placements from multiple perspectives, making certain that everything was visually appealing.

Within a week, the former mud pit had been transformed to an oasis, exactly as Jay had envisioned. This spring/summer, we have enjoyed our backyard like never before. We have seen new types of birds, lots of hummingbirds, dragonflies, butterflies, and more types of bees and mud daubers than we knew existed! And now we welcome heavy rain! I look forward to having Jay and his team come back to transform our front yard! Thank you Jay and team!

INNovation STUDIO LANDSCAPE did a great job of listening to our needs and pairing those with our budget. I loved that trying to create a space that attracted pollinators was a high priority for them. I love the diversity of plan material they used to make sure that there is always something visually interesting going on in the garden. The entire neighborhood is enjoying the new garden together. In our garden INNovation STUDIO LANDSCAPE added a water feature, which was a first experience for me. Sitting next to our water feature has become my favorite place for morning coffee or afternoon relaxation moments. The INNovation STUDIO LANDSCAPE team worked long days to minimize disruption and make sure that when the project was completed that we loved what we saw.

We had a great experience working with INNovation STUDIO LANDSCAPE. From day one, they were very professional. They listened to what I wanted to have done with the yard, and made suggestions on how to improve the issues. Everything turned out great! Jay was very courteous and easy to work with. Jay is amazing! We met with him and asked him to help us design and install a new landscape design for our yard. He is very responsive. The plan he came up with was amazing. He was able to steer us in the direction that achieved the look and feel we wanted. He coordinated subcontractors for concrete and watering systems. He also was easy to work with when we had an unexpected delay due to building a room addition. We continue to add to the plan and work with Jay on an ongoing basis!
